Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about choosing an electric bike, battery safety, warranty coverage, winter riding, delivery and local service.

Shopping at VOLTZ

Why buy from VOLTZ instead of an online marketplace?

Buying an e-bike is about more than the lowest advertised price. At VOLTZ, you can compare models in person, discuss your needs with a local team, arrange eligible test rides, and access professional assembly, repairs and after-sales assistance. Our Calgary service centre is here to help after the sale.

Can I test ride an electric bike before buying?

Yes. Outdoor test rides are available for eligible showroom models, subject to availability, weather and safe riding conditions. Identification and a signed test-ride waiver may be required.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

Financing options are available on eligible purchases through participating providers, subject to approval and their terms. Contact us to check current options.

Where is the VOLTZ showroom located?

Visit us at Unit 101A, 2525 36th Street NE, Sunridge Mall, Calgary, Alberta. Our entrance is outside the mall, beside Urban Planet. See our contact information and store hours.

Battery Safety & UL Certification

Safety first: Independently verified certification can help reduce electrical and fire-related risks, but it does not eliminate all risk. Always follow the manufacturer’s charging and care instructions.
Why is UL certification important for electric bikes?

Recognized electrical safety standards help evaluate risks involving batteries, chargers and electric drive systems. UL 2849 covers the e-bike electrical system; UL 2271 covers batteries for light electric vehicles. Independent certification is a useful safety indicator, but it does not eliminate all risk.

Are all electric bikes sold at VOLTZ UL certified?

We prioritize products with recognized electrical and battery safety certifications. Certification varies by manufacturer, model and component, so we do not claim that every product carries the same certification. Ask us for the certification information available for the exact model you are considering.

What is the difference between UL 2849 and UL 2271?

UL 2849 evaluates an e-bike's electrical system, including the interaction between the battery, charger and drive system. UL 2271 applies to batteries used in light electric vehicles. A UL 2271-certified battery does not automatically mean the whole e-bike electrical system is UL 2849 certified. For certain electric scooters, UL 2272 is another relevant standard.

Are certified e-bikes safer than inexpensive bikes sold online?

Independent certification provides evidence that a specific product has been assessed against recognized safety requirements. However, online stores and physical dealers can both sell certified or uncertified products. Check the actual model's certification rather than relying on the seller or price alone.

Is CE marking the same as UL certification?

No. CE marking generally reflects a manufacturer's declaration of conformity with applicable European requirements; it is not equivalent to independent certification to a UL standard. Ask which standards apply to the particular model and whether certification can be verified.

How should I charge an e-bike battery safely?

Use the manufacturer-approved charger in a dry, ventilated area away from combustible materials. Do not charge a damaged, swollen, unusually hot or frozen battery. Allow a cold battery to reach its permitted charging temperature, follow the manual and avoid charging while asleep or leaving it unattended for long periods.

Warranty & After-Sales Support

Teslica warranty: Up to 10 years of limited coverage is conditional on qualifying paid annual tune-ups at a certified Teslica dealer. Read the official terms.
What warranty comes with my electric bike?

Warranty coverage varies by brand, model and purchase package. Some products include manufacturer parts coverage; optional VOLTZ packages may provide additional local services. Parts and labour coverage are not identical across brands. Read the VOLTZ Warranty Policy.

Do Teslica electric bikes come with a 10-year warranty at VOLTZ?

Yes. Eligible Teslica e-bikes have a 10-year limited manufacturer warranty for manufacturing and workmanship defects in original mechanical and electrical components, provided the warranty requirements are maintained. Teslica also provides a lifetime frame replacement warranty for eligible defects. The program applies to Teslica-branded e-bikes sold after January 1, 2025, and only to the original purchaser; it is non-transferable. See Teslica's complete official warranty terms.

What must I do to keep Teslica's 10-year warranty active?

Teslica requires paid annual tune-ups at Teslica or a certified Teslica dealer, with no more than 400 days between tune-ups. Each qualifying tune-up grants another year of warranty coverage, up to the program's 10-year limit. Without meeting the requirements, Teslica guarantees only its one-year limited warranty, with additional years subject to qualifying annual tune-ups. Keep your proof of purchase and service records. Review the requirements.

Is the Teslica battery covered for all 10 years?

For eligible manufacturing and workmanship defects, Teslica's policy provides 100% of the battery part's value for the first five years and 50% for the following five years, subject to the program requirements. Normal wear, misuse, improper storage and other policy exclusions are not covered. This is not a promise of a free replacement battery after year five.

What does Teslica's lifetime frame warranty cover?

Teslica offers a lifetime frame replacement warranty for the original retail purchaser for eligible frame defects. It excludes issues such as paint fade, scratches, impact damage and irreversible modifications including drilling or welding. See the manufacturer's terms for details.

Is Teslica's 10-year warranty supported locally in Calgary?

VOLTZ can assist Calgary customers with an initial assessment, documentation and communication with Teslica. Teslica processes and authorizes its manufacturer warranty claims. Annual tune-ups required to maintain the 10-year program must be performed by Teslica or a certified Teslica dealer. Claim repairs and any covered installation work are subject to Teslica's approval. Contact us to confirm local service arrangements.

Does Teslica's warranty cover brake pads, tires, accidents or modifications?

No. Teslica excludes normal wear and tear, including items such as brake pads, tires, tubes and chains, as well as corrosion, water damage beyond intended exposure, accidents, misuse, improper maintenance and unauthorized electrical or software modifications. Unapproved modifications can void warranty eligibility.

Does a manufacturer parts warranty also pay for repair labour?

Not automatically. Teslica states that installation fees are not covered without authorization from its after-sales team. Other brands also have different parts and labour terms. VOLTZ will explain any chargeable inspection or labour before proceeding with approved work.

How do I submit a warranty claim?

Contact VOLTZ with your receipt, product model, description of the issue and clear photos or videos. We can help you identify the relevant process. Teslica warranty claims must be made through Teslica, and a certified Teslica dealer may be required for inspection or repairs. Contact VOLTZ.

VOLTZ Winter Package

What is included in the VOLTZ Winter Package?

Our 2026–27 seasonal offers may include complimentary winter accessories, storage and, for qualifying non-Teslica models, a deferred warranty start date. Benefits depend on the model and current promotion; please confirm eligibility, inclusions and collection dates in writing before purchasing.

Teslica bikes are excluded from the March 2027 deferred-warranty-start offer, but eligible Teslica purchases may still qualify for winter accessories or seasonal storage.

Can my e-bike warranty start in March 2027?

Yes, eligible non-Teslica e-bikes purchased under our 2026–27 winter promotion may qualify for a deferred warranty start date of March 2027, where the offer is confirmed in the purchase documentation and permitted by the applicable warranty terms.

Teslica e-bikes are excluded. Their 10-year limited manufacturer warranty follows Teslica's published start-date and annual service requirements.

Does the VOLTZ Winter Package apply to Teslica e-bikes?

Eligible Teslica purchases may still receive seasonal benefits such as complimentary winter accessories or storage, depending on the current offer.

However, Teslica bikes do not qualify for our March 2027 deferred warranty start. Teslica already offers an extended 10-year limited warranty program, subject to qualifying paid annual tune-ups and the manufacturer's written terms. Its warranty start date and maintenance requirements follow Teslica's official policy.

Read Teslica's official 10-year warranty terms.

Can VOLTZ store my new e-bike until riding season?

Seasonal storage may be included with eligible purchases, subject to available space, promotion terms and an agreed collection date. Contact us to confirm whether your model qualifies.

Can I ride my e-bike during Calgary winters?

Some models can be used in colder weather with appropriate tires, protective gear and maintenance, provided the manufacturer permits those conditions. Expect reduced battery range and take extra care with snow, ice, moisture and road salt. Never charge a battery below its approved charging temperature.

Assembly, Shipping & Delivery

What is the difference between a boxed and fully assembled e-bike?

A boxed e-bike is supplied in factory packaging and may need assembly, adjustments and inspection. With professional assembly from VOLTZ, technicians assemble and check key components such as brakes, steering, drivetrain and fasteners. Assembly may be included in selected packages or priced separately.

Do you ship electric bikes across Canada?

We arrange shipping for eligible products to destinations across Canada. Charges, transit times and whether the product ships boxed or assembled depend on the product and destination. Read Shipping & Delivery.

Do you offer assembled e-bike delivery in Calgary?

Local delivery, including fully assembled delivery for eligible models, may be arranged in Calgary and surrounding areas. Charges may apply unless a current promotion includes delivery. Ask for a quote before purchasing.

What should I do if my shipment arrives damaged?

Inspect the package promptly, keep all packaging, take clear photographs and contact VOLTZ as soon as you notice damage or missing parts. Follow the reporting period in the applicable sales and shipping policy; the manufacturer may have its own claim deadline. Your applicable legal rights are not limited by this guidance.

Service & Repairs

Do you repair e-bikes and scooters purchased elsewhere?

Yes. VOLTZ services many brands of e-bikes and electric scooters, including products purchased elsewhere. Acceptance depends on the model, condition, availability of parts and the type of repair.

How do I book a service appointment?

Use the request form on our Service Center page or contact us directly. We recommend booking ahead. Sending a request does not automatically confirm an appointment.

How much does e-bike or scooter repair cost?

Pricing depends on the model, required parts and labour. Our Service Center page lists starting prices for common repairs and tune-ups; final estimates are confirmed after inspection where needed.

Can VOLTZ perform the annual Teslica tune-up required for the 10-year warranty?

The annual service must be completed by Teslica or a certified Teslica dealer to qualify for the 10-year program. Contact VOLTZ before booking so we can confirm the current certified service arrangements and the required documentation. View Teslica's service requirements.

Electric Bike Ownership

How far can an electric bike travel on one charge?

Actual range depends on battery capacity, rider weight, terrain, speed, tire pressure, temperature and assistance level. Advertised maximum ranges are usually based on specific test conditions; real-world results may be lower.

Do I need a licence or insurance to ride an e-bike in Alberta?

Qualifying power bicycles generally do not require a driver's licence, registration or motor vehicle insurance in Alberta. Not every electric two-wheeler qualifies; motor power, assisted speed, pedals and vehicle classification matter. Check current provincial and local rules for your particular model.

How should I store my e-bike battery?

Store it in a dry, temperature-controlled area away from extreme heat or cold. Follow the manufacturer's recommended storage charge level and maintenance intervals, and do not use or charge a damaged battery.

Returns, Exchanges & Orders

Can I return or exchange an e-bike after purchasing it?

Under VOLTZ's published policy, sales are final, subject to applicable consumer protection laws. Eligible new, unopened, unassembled and unused products may be considered for exchange within 7 days, with original receipt, packaging and accessories. Approved exchanges carry a 25% restocking fee. Certain purchases, including direct-shipped online orders, are excluded. Read the complete policy.

Can I cancel a special order or an order already shipped?

Special orders, pre-orders and direct-shipped purchases are generally final sale under our published policy. Orders already processed or shipped may not be cancellable. Contact us immediately with any concerns; applicable statutory rights still apply.
